Windows Remote Desktop local taskbar hides remote taskbar in fullscreen mode

I did an RDP session to a remote host. In fullscreen mode, the remote taskbar was hidden by my local computer taskbar.

How-I-fixed-it:
Bring up the task manager on the local computer, right-click "Windows Explorer" and select "Restart".

I re-opened the RDP session and now the Fullscreen worked fine again.

I found the solution here:

  26. Unfortunately this did NOT work for me. Running Windows 10 on a Lenovo laptop. I've tried all the fixes people have mentioned such as restarting Explorer, closing background apps, etc. Nothing has worked. As a workaround I have the local taskbar set to "automatically hide in desktop mode" which works OK, but it sometimes still pops up when I roll the pointer over the remote taskbar.

  33. Thank you so much. This was frustrating me for some time. What is Microsoft doing about about this? Looks like this issue is been there for so long. I age twice as much using this terrible Windows OS!

  43. I had this issue when using multiple displays, running remote desktop on one display only. I had to check the "make this my main display" option on the screen with the remote desktop to fix this. You may try this if the solution described here doesn't work for you.
